Ensconced on a mesa overlooking spectacular views of Thousand Lake Mountain, Boulder Mountain, and Capitol Reef National Park, The Wonderland Inn does indeed offer a wonderland vista of deserts, canyons, mountains and rocks. The Wonderland Inn, located at the junction of two Scenic Byways-12 and 24-is owned and operated by Ray and Diane Potter and their family. The Inn is the continuing dream of the Potters, life long residents who, as a family, have spent their lives working and playing together.

In 1990 the Inn and restaurant were opened with 30 spacious rooms. By 1992, an ever-increasing clientele resulted in the addition of 20 more rooms and a convention center. Two years later, garnering resort status, the Inn expanded to include a gift shop, and Texaco station with convenience store. The 1998 season will open with the addition of a campground for trailers, motor homes, and tent campers.

It is obvious to guests that the grounds are lovingly cared for by Ray. Well-manicured lawn and lighted rock gardens surround the pool. Flowers and trees give variety and color to the landscape. During the Christmas season, the grounds are flooded with the brilliance of lights for the holidays.

A Country Styles Beauty Salon is operated from April 1 through October 31 by one of the Potter's daughters, Nycole, who also serves as the Inn's assistant manager.

Guests have referred to the new Wonderland Inn Resort as the "Hill-top Hilton," "Oasis in the Desert," or the "Desert and Mountain Retreat." Whatever one chooses to call the Wonderland Inn, there is no mistaking that one's sense of serenity while staying at the Inn is a direct result of the grandeur and majesty that surrounds and envelops this place called "Wonderland Inn Resort."
