Stan's Burger Shak |
||
| It is always busy when I visit Stan's. It did not come easy but for years they have been serving good food and taking care of their customers, and everybody keeps coming back. | ||
Whispering Sands Motel |

| Stan added this motel to his complex and it has been a success. The rooms are large and nice and you get to enjoy the food at the restaurant. | ||

Stan's in Hanksville Stan and Deena Alvey own the Whispering Sands Motel and Stan’s Burger Shack in Hanksville. It’s located just as you start down Highway 95, and you can’t miss it. This family owned business has a few surprises, not the least of which is Buffy. A harmless name for a normal house pet but this Buffy is a young Buffalo that you think would appreciate Stan for bottling feeding the buffalo through its early months. Forget that, I watched Stan and Buffy go the rounds as Stan convinced the beast it was time for a photo opportunity. Stan nearly suffered a broken leg as the young buffalo decided to test the waters of their friendship and butted Stan as he was exiting Buffy’s pen. It’s hard to keep the camera focused when you're laughing your guts out, but as you can see I managed. The rooms are brand new and clean and the restaurant serves great food in the American tradition of order at the counter and bus your own table. Do me a favor, be sure to say hello to Stan and Deena, they are always busy but I found they usually slow down long enough to at least say hello.
