Colorado River Scenic Byway

[Arches] [Island in Sky] [Moab] [Potash] [Mtn. Bike] [Red Tail] [Arches - Canyonlands Homepage]

I love to leave Moab and head up the Colorado River Byway. You can travel a few miles or all the way, its is worth the trip no matter how much time you have to spend doing it. The Colorado Scenic Byway is 44 miles long and travels next to the Colorado River most of the way. There are a lot of pullouts where you can view the river. Be sure to stop at the abandoned homestead that is in the Fisher Tower area. There are interpretive signs at the homestead.

Fisher Tower and Colorado River

The Fisher Towers and Colorado River can be seen along the Colorado River Scenic Byway.

The Mittle Bottom Homestead

Located right along next to the Fisher Towers, the Mittle Bottom Homestead is also right next to the Colorado River. It makes a good place to stop and take a break.
